WP6 - Case studies & Transferability

Objective

At the eight case studies
  • the analysis and diagnosis procedures (WP2)
  • the developed energy efficiency solutions (WP3)
  • the integrated monitoring & control concept (WP4)
can be implemented/tested and experiences are fed back to the respective work packages.
They contribute also considerably to the visibility and convincing power of the project.

Tasks

Activties at each of the case studies include the
  • Initial preparation of a implementation plan & monitoring scheme
  • Comprehensive Diagnosis (both with regard to conservation & energy issues)
  • Specific test of selected 3ENCULT products and tools
  • Support in design and planning phase
  • Monitoring of both pre- and post-retrofit situation
Experiences will be summarised for municipalities, to support the application in urban planning and climate action plans. Master students on conservation and urban development at TUD will perform an exemplary study on transferability of the experience to other buildings and quarters.

Case Studies

The case studies were chosen in order to represent
  • different climatic conditions
  • different utilisations
  • different epochs and degree of conservation restrictions
  • different needed/planned interventions
  • different time schedule of implementation

Local Case Study Teams (LCS-Teams) will accompany the implementation of the project and the interventions in each of the 8 historic buildings included in 3ENCULT. Each LCS-Team will comprise the owner of the historic building; representatives from the local cultural heritage administration/council and other local bodies concerned (e.g. city council); architects and other professionals involved in the refurbishment works; local sponsors and possibly a representative of a local civil society organization committed to the preservation of cultural heritage
(eg Trust Fund in the UK or Fondo Italiano per l’Ambiente in Italy).
The 3ENCULT partner responsible for the individual case study will act as focal point for the constitution and consultation of the respective Local Case Study Team.

The goal of these teams is:
  • a) to ensure the full participation of all local stakeholders;
  • b) to ensure the compatibility of the proposed interventions with the local cultural heritage regulations and owners needs;
  • c) secure their commitment for the success of the project and the further dissemination of results.
